No Me Dejare Vencer

By Evelyn  |   From : Guatemala  |   School : School of Business & Tourism (LA)

I will not let myself be defeated

I was born in Guatemala on January, 2004 in a public hospital. When I was born, one of my Dad’s Uncle’s said I was not his daughter but nobody made it important. When I was 2 years old my mom started to take me to Church, I liked going to church to sing children’s songs, everything was very beautiful. When I was 6 years old I started studying and my teachers were really good. My school’s name is called Mixed Rural School Tecum Uman I had a teacher named Sandra who was like a Mom in the school.

The Journey

When I was 13, I had to say goodbye to the 2 most important women in my life my grandmother and my sister,  I hugged my grandmother and said goodbye with tears in my eyes,  I said to my sister,” My beautiful girl, my princess take care and behave well and prove that you can.” My words were so full of love. 🙁

I said thank you to my grandmother for everything she did for me. I will not cry, I told her, because I will see you again. My sister said to me, “Do not go.”  I told her what my mother said to me,  she told me to be strong and I told my sister to be strong and I will see her again.
