behind every dog is a human
By Olivia | From : Colorado | School : Silverton Middle SchoolMe and Patience were having a playdate, and It was a sunny fall afternoon. We were playing in my room with the door open while my mom was feeding the dogs when we heard a loud commotion and my mom yelling. We ran out of my room to see what had happened. My small dog Poppy was squealing and running to the couch. My mom was dragging Lager outside. Once Lager was outside, my mom ran over to Poppy to see if he was ok, but of course, he wasn’t. He was attacked by a pretty big dog – our own dog. Our friends Kat and Randy came over to see what we had to do because Randy is a retired vet and Kat is an animal lover. They told us it was a really deep wound and that he would need stitches. The wound was like if you zoomed into a cat scratch and pasted it on his side. We called our friends Pattie and Tommy to see if they could drop Patience off and see if I could stay with them while they were gone. I ended up staying till about 9 pm. I cried almost the entire time because I was scared. I didn’t know if he would ever be the same again. He had to have his stitches in for about three months, and I couldn’t leave him alone, or he would pluck them out. When we did leave him alone, we would only leave for a short time, and he would have to wear a sweater. He ended up plucking them out in the middle of the night, which wasn’t a big deal because the wound was already closed. He was free from the stitches. His side was a little funky looking, and she bit him again on the other side, but she just put a bite mark on him. Now she has to wear a mask just in case it happens again. We currently have a puppy named Bock, and she will go after him almost every day out of nowhere, and for no reason; it scares me every time. I feel very bad for Bock because he’s the sweetest boy and doesn’t deserve to be treated like this. I am very protective and cautious when Lager comes near Poppy because I never want it to happen again. When she was a puppy, she was the cutest little thing. As she got older, she just kept getting more aggressive. She would bite our old dog Taffy, and bully our small dog Sallie, and she made my cat Callie limp for the rest of her life. She even went after my mom once. I may not trust her or like her anymore but like a close friend said to me ¨behind every dog is a human.¨
