Sorry

Each day is a countdown

I was born in Cuba in August 8, 2009, and came from Cuba to America in April 7, 2023 to have a better life. It was hard to say goodbye to the people I love like my friends and family. The hardest part of the trip was to leave the country knowing that my grandmother was going to miss me and my family.

When I arrived in the USA, I realized everything was different.  The environment was more quiet than Cuba. I loved the views, the food, and the buildings were beautiful. All the places I went to were just better than Cuba. But not everything was better. I miss the beaches, the mountains, the food, and my family.

Something difficult that happened to my family was not knowing the main language of this country. Navigating everyday tasks like grocery shopping or using public transportation became incredibly challenging without understanding the language. Communicating with doctors, teachers, or landlords was very frustrating and stressful. This made it difficult to access essential services.

I’m happy because some day I’ll go to Cuba to see my family and friends again. It’s now been more than one year  since leaving Cuba and seeing my family. I miss them. I miss the food and views of Cuba but I also know I will have to wait a while to go to Cuba. Each day is a countdown until I return to visit.
