My Life Here and There
By Nathaly | From : Nicaragua | School : Plantation High SchoolOne normal day my mom came home from work and told me that in less than a month we were leaving the country, I couldn’t believe it, I didn’t take it very well, I didn’t want to leave my friends or my family, everything happened very quickly, At the end of February we arrived in the United States.
My biggest challenge in coming to this country was leaving my friends, they were the ones I spent every day with, the ones I was going to miss the most, there was also my family who was left in my country.
In the first instance, I managed to overcome that by accepting that I already lived in another country, that I had to adapt to the new country and that all things happen for a reason.
Another new experience that I had was that I have gone through many moves, about three times since I came to this country, in my country I never moved, I lived for 13 years in my house
se and it is something very hard to get used to a place then leave and have than going through the same thing over and over again.
A difficult situation while here was that my dad was heading to Las Vegas and halfway there he suffered a very serious accident. When I found out, I despaired because I couldn’t do anything because I was very far away. A while passed and I didn’t hear anything from him, then I realized that they had taken him to the hospital, and he was recovering.
A moment in my life in which I was proud of myself was when I managed to continue with my dance classes, which had become very difficult for me to continue attending.
Then I was able to continue attending for two more years, I continued going to my normal classes and in the afternoon to dance classes, then I had to leave because I was leaving the country.
A memorable moment was when my sisters were born. It was September 4th of last year, at three in the afternoon they were born at the Miramar hospital. I had mixed feelings because I was no longer the only daughter I had been for fifteen years, but I was also happy for my mother and 9for meeting the babies. They will be 6 months old next month, although they are twins they are very different in every way, even how they cry, I help my mother take care of them in the afternoons when I get home from school, my grandmother takes care of them in the morning while my mother works and I am at school. As they grow, they are more annoying, it is difficult to put them to sleep and when they do not sleep well, they behave very badly, but they brighten my day.
