My New Home!
By Kimberly | From : Haiti | School : Boston International Newcomers AcademyMy New Home!
Guess what?
In a home where warm winds blew.
Felt and smelled of earth, a welcoming nature home!
I’m from a place where the people were so friendly and gentle.
had a brand new heart.
Kind smiles greeted me, such a beautiful love.
Friendly faces, wise teachers,
Students gathered, laughter amusement,
Physical games, the excitement of the heart,
Skating, singing, dancing.
Soccer fields and beaches vividly,
Picnics shared, beneath the light.
Roast chicken, sausages shared, friends all around.
In every moment, happiness was found.
I was happy here! It is still new, with cherished friends, joy ahead! New words learned, a language new, revealing customs.
Volunteering, learning, friendships made,
with every step, my heart takes flight,
In this journey, life felt good.
Finding my place, making me whole. In this new land, my spirit flew up,
discovering passions, opening doors.
It was a journey of discovery, a happy rhyme.
Life here feels relaxing, exciting, and interesting, where belonging flourish, through space and time.
A Hardworking Student
A student bright, in classrooms light.
Work hard at school, with a pencil, notebook, calculator, and computer in hand.
Good grades she gets, with focused strength, strong and true. Persistent temperament.
Learning new things, day and night. She never gives up, tries her best,
To reach her goals, and pass the test.
Her dreams reside,
She seeks new chances, far and wide. With hope and an open heart, she starts each day, to find success along the way.
Opportunities, she wants to find,
A better future, for her mind. She’ll face hard times, but stand up tall,
Answering opportunity’s call.
With force and desire, she’ll see it through,
A bright, bright future, waits for you.
Dear Future Kimberly,
I hope you’re doing great.
When you read this I want you to feel proud of yourself and how far you’ve come. Right now, you have big dreams of graduating, going to college in a huge urban city, traveling, learning about business and anesthesiology, making good money, buying a car, and using that success to help yourself, your family, friends, and others.
I want you to remember why you started. Every hard day, every late night studying, every challenge, and every sacrifice is helping you reach your goals and the life you want. Keep going, pushing forward, stay focused, disciplined, and never give up.
By now, I hope you’ve found ways to save money, or taken steps toward financial independence, whether through scholarships, jobs, or investments. Make smart choices, and surround yourself with good people who inspire and support you. And most of all, I hope you still believe in yourself the way you do now and hope you’re still learning and growing every day.
If things ever feel hard, or feeling lost, just remember: You wanted this. You worked for this. And you deserve every good thing coming your way. Keep going, keep learning, keep making a difference, and never stop believing in yourself.
With love and belief in you,
Your Past Self
