The drastic change in my life
By Anonymous | From : Dominican Republic | School : Plantation High SchoolHello, I am 16 years old, I am in grade 10, I was born on August 24 in The Dominican Republic. I lived most of my life in the Dominican Republic had to move with my dad and older brother to the United States looking for a better future, but at the same time having to move away from my family and friends.
Those who made the decision to move to another country were my parents, I was in my room until my mom came in and told me that I was going to go to the United States with my dad, I already knew that at some point I was going to change country, but I didn’t expect it to be so sudden
One of the experiences that impacted me the most was when I had to move from the Dominican Republic to the United States with my father and older brother, leaving behind my entire family, including my mother, the most important person in my life. My life in the Dominican Republic was normal I never lacked anything, I had friends, and I did well in school. Then they decided that it was necessary for us to move to the United States and change our lives, but I didn’t like the idea very much, as I was used to the life I had in my country. My brother felt the same way I did at the time.8i7z Upon arriving i the United States, my father and I had to move in with some relatives I didn’t know, whom I had only seen a couple of times in my life. My father said we were doing it for a better future for us.
When I started my first school in the United States, it was difficult for me to adapt at first because it was a completely different place from what I was used to, and I didn’t know the language. During the first few days of school, I felt a little lost and didn’t understand the classes. I didn’t have any problems with any of the teachers; they all helped me. Over time, I made friends, and that helped me a lot to adapt better.
At first, I didn’t like the idea of having to move. I liked my life in the Dominican Republic. I didn’t like the idea of having to go to another country and leave my family and friends behind. When I moved to the United States with my father and brother, we had to live with various relatives, although eventually we were able to move out and get our own place. And although adjusting to my first school was difficult, over time I managed to adapt much better and understand that the move, while difficult at first, was simply a good opportunity for a better future.
