Where I am From… 

I am from the most incredible island.

I am from where you get welcomed with music as soon as you step through the door with Bachata, Salsa, Merengue, and Dembow.

I am from where the most beautiful beaches are. The water are clear blue, the sand is cream like coffee with cream

I am from somewhere people yell que maldito calor o vamos pal rio que tamos sudando.

I am from where you can eat mangu con los 3 golpes at any time of the day.

I am from where there are no beaches closed.

I am from Los atracadores.

I am from Where you celebrate your birthday in big parties every year.

Today

My life has changed a lot since I came to the USA. I feel more safe, more free, and motivated to have a better future and life. Even though I’m having some family problems, I’m happy here, but sometimes I’m sad because I left everything behind, like my family, and my friends. Even though I have them here too, sometimes I feel like I left them behind more because I barely go back. But other than that I’m happy. I have been visiting a lot of places here like NH, Orlando, Connecticut, and NYC and have been having fun with my family and my friends.

My Future

Dear Lia,
In 10 years now I hope you are in a better position living a great life with your 4 kids and your husband. I hope you are happy with your family and life. I hope that you have your dream house, car, family and everything that you wish for, and visit all the countries and places you wanted to go to. At this point in life you are facing some challenges like having a step dad that acts like he is your biological dad when he’s not. So I hope that when you read this letter all those things are behind you and you are in a better place now and feeling safe and not having to deal with that guy. Remember to take care of yourself and always be safe.
