Where I am From, Where I am going
By Student | From : Boston | School : Boston International Newcomers AcademyMy family and my younger self
I am from the loud and crowded city of Boston and a big family with a multitude of different races, shades, and shapes.
I am from collard greens, rice, macaroni, and grits.
Soul food is the love language of my family.
The food is the conversation and the invitations to my grandma’s house for every family member on my dads side of the family.
My younger self, so naive, so intelligent, and attentive to things and details that others never noticed but always caught my eye.
I am from the art of life when you stop and live in the moment that is your life’s most vibrant moments.
Where am I now?
Today I am filled with emotions and experiences.
Exhaustion.
But I have hope for my present. Somebody so filled with love to give and talents to bring.
The best and the worst my journey has ever been, but still so creative and curious about what else life has in its stone cold hands that I am willing to hold on for answers.
Full of beautiful accidents and mistakes that would worry me before but that I later became grateful for later down the line.
Every moment is trial and error.
Who will I be in 10 years?
Dear Future,
In 10 years from now I hope you are in your most certain state of life. I hope that you still pushed through the hardest of battles.
Remember, that you are your strongest soldier and never forget that at all points of life you are your biggest help, your biggest supporter, and at the same time your biggest critic.
Don’t be too hard on yourself and stop blaming things on you that aren’t in your power to change but be just hard enough to motivate and push yourself for change that is necessary for your life’s path.
Live life to the fullest and never stop accomplishing your goals and even going beyond them.
I’ve lived my whole life in a crowded and loud area where socializing was the hardest thing but yet the easiest thing depending on who you were around. But now I want to try something new.. Something… Different.
An education in a campus, a high rise apartment with lights that can change your mood based on the color, art work, a social aspect that isn’t overwhelming, or a place that isn’t crowded. But most of all..
Peace.
Freedom.
I am from being expressive and experiencing things first hand. See as that freedom of expression is my love language to myself.
