Where I Am From
By Mohammed | From : Ethiopia | School : Boston International Newcomers AcademyWhere I Am From
I am from a place where kids play football everywhere
and welcome everyone.
I am from a place where morning coffee is made in a clay pot,
which is very famous in my country since she is called the mother of coffee.
Bravery is in me. I got it through my bloodline since they were not colonized before.
The food there is so unique
we almost eat everything with injera.
The place is mostly greeny meaning more natural
and respectful people with a unique culture with no segregation,
everyone will come outside, have fun with other kids,
and go back to their house
feeling comfy with their boundaries
even when they are close.
Me Right Now
Today I am focused on gaining more skills, experience, and knowledge through school, family, and my job in the summer, which I plan to work on research (science) at Vertex. Today I am thankful for all that I have while striving/wishing for more. I am dreaming beyond the horizon believing that every step forward brings me closer to who I am meant to be (wealthy, thoughtful, and respectful). Today I am living with my family with kind-hearted, peaceful, and respectful siblings. I go to a school with a wide variety of students which makes it hard to make a friend but I go through it. Now I have a friend from many different places like Cape Verde, Dominican Republic, Portugal, and other places.
Letter to Myself
Dear future Mohammed,
In 10 years from now I hope you are rich and helping the poor, I hope you are feeling happy and relaxed. I want you to have an organization that helps the poor which provides help physically and mentally, and be thankful for everything and anything you have. At this point in my life, I’m facing some challenges connected to school, money, and changing habits, so I hope by the time you read this, they will be a thing of the past. I hope you will feel great after succeeding and overcoming those challenges. There are things I want you to remember such as to stay focused and don’t let power distract you from being humble.
