Sorry

I was born here in America. My Dad is from Jamaica and moved here to the United States. I have visited Jamaica.  My grandmother on my mom’s side was born in Trinidad. She moved to America and my mom was born here.  

Many years ago, I started at a Deaf school called T-H-E L-E-A-R-N-I-N-G C-E-N-T-E-R (show sign for TLC). After that, I came to my current school: The Horace Mann School for the Deaf in Boston. I’ve been here for 13 years. I really like it here. We learn a lot and it’s a lot of fun.

To tell you a little about my identity…I’m Black, tall, and I am Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing. All of my family is hearing. We usually communicate by gesturing to each other and using some sign language. I feel like our communication is slowly getting better.

I’m a 10th grader now, but I am ready to graduate and go to college at Gallaudet University, a college for Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing students in Washington, D.C.. Because I really enjoy sports, especially basketball and football, I plan to play those sports when I’m there. I also look forward to learning a lot there. I plan on studying engineering and building design.
