Sorry

I grew up without a father

By FREDELINE CASIMIR  |   From : Haiti  |   School : Glades Central High School (FL)

My name is Fredeline. I am from Haiti. I came to the United States in 2014; I was 16 years old. I’m a church girl; I love to worship God. My father died when I was 6 years old. I didn’t know my father and my mother very well, because my mom was already moving from Haiti to the United States before my father passed away.  After the funeral I started a new life with my grandmother and some other family members including my cousin, my uncle, my aunt, my brothers and sisters. I am a girl who grew up without a father. I remember when my father died, I was crying, not because I knew what that meant when people died, but because someone told me my father was gone. I would never see him again.  When I was in Haiti sometimes I felt so sad, because I didn’t have a father to love me.  Since I came to the United States I have begun a new life — a life with a love of a father. Now I feel better, because my mom married a man who loves us. When I say us I mean my sisters and my brothers.  He love us like his own children. I will do my best to make my mother and the rest of my family proud of me. I know I grew up without a father, but that makes me stronger and braver.  I will stay positive to pursue all my dreams no matter what people say or think about me, because I know who I am.
