Different countries
By Melannie | From : Panama | School : Coral Glades High SchoolI have traveled through many countries like Mexico and Panama, where I lived for a long time, and each country has something more special than the others. I’ve met a lot of people from different countries around the world, but when I moved to the United States, everything was different, even though I had already been to many other countries. One of the most different things here was the language. Even though it was easy for me to learn, I noticed that some of my friends, who have been here for more than three years, still don’t speak any English. I realized how hard it can be when you don’t have the motivation to learn a new language, even though in Florida, you don’t really need English that much because so many people speak Spanish.
I am from Panama, and there’s not much difference between the U.S. and Panama, as both countries use the dollar. But the huge difference is how expensive it is to live here. The pay is good when there are two people at home, but if you’re single or alone, it’s hard. When I started going to school, I was so nervous because the classes were different, but it only took me a week to become familiar with the people and the school. I learned that all cultures are different, but they are all beautiful.
