Going with the wind
By Stephanie Palacios | From : Miramar, Fl | School : Everglades High SchoolMy name is Stephanie Palacios and I was born May 18th 1999 in the U.S.A. Both of my parents emigrated from Nicaragua to the U.S for various reasons; the war being one of them. My parents settled in the Florida in search for a better life. With time my dad started a transportation company and had my older brother. Later on, I was born and when I was 9 years old my dad decided to take the company to Nicaragua. At first I was excited because I thought we would come back since I would go to Nicaragua every summer, but once I saw my parents looking schools for my brother and I, I knew there was no coming back. I wasn’t happy at all living over there, I wasn’t used to the lifestyle and missed all my friends. We lived in Nicaragua for 7 years and in August 7th 2015 we moved back to Florida. I could say that day was the saddest day of my life so far. Saying goodbye to my family and all the friends I made broke my heart. There are no words that can describe how I felt leaving. I would never thought I would love so much a country that I didn’t want to go to in the first place. Living 7 years in Nicaragua taught me not only to love the country where my parents are from but I also learned costumes and my family traditions.
