Lo Impactante de mi Vida
By Andrea | From : Honduras | School : Lake Worth High SchoolHello friends, I’m going to tell you my story. My name is Andrea, and I am from Honduras. I have been living in the United States for a year. When I lived in Honduras, my family was poor; we hardly lived well. When I was 6 years old, my dad came to the United States to work in order to give us a better life. After 3 years, my dad went back to Honduras. He said it was to take care of me, but he separated from my mom and went to live with another woman. I lived sadly because I was not with my mom nor with my dad. I was living with a neighbor. Then, I went to live with my father and his wife. My brother was living with my mother. I studied in a school called Rural Mixta Ramon Rosa. When I finished my 6th grade, I moved to my aunt’s house to study 7th and 8th grade with my cousin . One day, I was at my cousin’s house when my mother arrived and told me that she was leaving to the United States. I did not believe her, I thought it was a lie. In the afternoon, she came back with my brother to say good bye. I went to take them to the bus. Next day, my mom surprised me with a phone call, she had not left yet, she was at her aunt’s house in another city. She told me not to worry that she was okay. When she arrived to the United States, she called me back; she was happy.
A year went by, I was not feeling well in my cousin’s house, so I called my mom and I told her that I wanted to leave. It was last year in September, and she told me that she would bring me. The day I left my country, I said goodbye to my dad and my cousins, and I cried so much. I arrived here to be with my mom and my brother.
I started school to get a better education and to learn English. Now I’m happy; here I do not lack anything. On my first day of school, I did not know anything. I did not understand English, did not have friends, and did not understand the teachers. Next day, I started meeting new friends. My first friend was Karla; she is from Honduras too. I also started to learn English.
Then Christmas came, the first Christmas I was going to spend here. I had a good time with my family and friends. 2016 arrived, I started with new goals: to finish school, to learn English, and to work because in the future I will need it and I will have a family.
Now, I have a new brother, I have a better life, and I know a little English. My life has been shocking at a short age, but I fight for a better future.
Lo Impactante de mi Vida
Hola amigos, voy a contarles mi historia.
