My Best Moment in My Life
By Iriana | School : South Broward High SchoolMy best moment in life was when I met my best friend, someone who became my family. Her name is Lisbey. I met her on October 31, 2021. I had known about her because we followed each other on Instagram, and we would text from time to time. Then, one day, at a random Halloween party, she was there. I was so nervous to go up to her and talk, but when I finally did, she gave me a big hug and told me she was finally glad to meet me. We saw each other once in December, and then one day, I mentioned to her that I wanted to go to the youth fair. Without hesitation, she said she would ask her mom. We went to the fair on April 10, 2022, and from that day on, we’ve been inseparable.
Lisbey has taught me so much in the past 3 years of our friendship. She taught me to be kind and strong. She taught me that it’s okay to not be okay. She showed me that no matter what happens, I will forever be her family. Her mom and dad consider me their second daughter. We’ve become so close that when her older sister gave birth to her son, they started calling me his aunt. His name is Matteo, and I adore him as if he were my own nephew.
One thing about Lisbey’s family is that they never see the bad in people. They are the most humble and loving people I have ever met. I can’t even begin to explain the number of memories I have with her, like when we went to Sarasota with her family or all the times we would go out at night, attending parties, or just staying on our phones and going to the plaza by my house to get Starbucks. We would spend hours there, buying things we didn’t really need, but enjoying each other’s company.
Lisbey is truly someone who touched my heart so gently when my whole world felt dark. If I had to describe her in one word, it would be “tough.” She never lets anyone disrespect her, doesn’t care at all what people have to say about her, and she just lives life to the fullest. Her and I are very different. I’m kind and sensitive to everyone, and she’s the complete opposite. She’s the devil, and I’m the angel.
I may not be perfect, but in Lisbey’s eyes, everything about me is perfect. She has never made me feel less than who I am, and for that, I’m so grateful. Everyone asks me what’s so special about her and why I prefer to be with her, and my answer is always the same: “When everyone else left my side, the only person who stayed was Lisbey.”
Everyone in life deserves and needs a Lisbey, and I can’t thank her enough for loving me when I couldn’t love myself.
