Sorry

My Past, My Present, and My Future

By Alex  |   From : Dominican Republic  |   School : Boston International Newcomers Academy

Past:

I am an alien from another place,

I belong but

at the same time don’t

taking place in existence

but disappearing as dust.

Full in meaning and purpose,

empty in thought

empty in action.

With empty dreams

warm as a star but cold as an iceberg

Deeds that are no longer remembered

meaningless as a non cloudy storm.

Born twice in life but dying once

walking in a path

preparation for a dusty life.

Without self control

guided by purpose

for everything has one

and everything goes to the cosmos.

This is me,

a being with different appearance,

an empty basket

that will be filled soon

with fruit that doesn’t spoil.

Present

I am a dying star but there is no more time

at the shiniest point, just a pause.

Now I’m from where I know,

not where I currently belong,

for what I learned before is not me anymore.

I am going back to the place I left,

for I don’t belong somewhere else,

on my way to a near future

maybe tomorrow, maybe now, time doesn’t count.

For this purpose, it is worth it.

The way is hard to overcome,

hard to see,

easy to fall,

every moment is measured

like the space grows and never stops.

But everything becomes invisible.

Nothing is compared to that future.

I surely will be there,

for I see it and feel it

like a story for many,

but a life of mine

like a poem you read,

like one you write

like a famous song,

like a song of your life.

For sure, returning is my only light.

Future

Dear future Alex,

In 10 years I see you in a new place

that looks exactly made for you, and for your family. There you will stay forever,

and you will do whatever you want to,

not worrying if it will be well done,

or if there is love or not.

In that place you will see your parents and family at every moment,

and live without space limitations,

not like back then but extendable.

You won’t be better or worse than others at any point, humble as the darkness in the universe,

And bright like stars in the cosmos.
