It’s not the end, it’s only the beginning
By Carlos Aponte | From : Miramar | School : Everglades High School“Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss you will land among the stars” (Les Brown). In life, one should always expect to win, even if it seems impossible you can reach it by being persistent and never giving up.
My name is Carlos Aponte and I was born in Venezuela on 1999 during the beginning of a new “revolution” that only brought chaos and isolation to the country, I grew up watching people complaining about the government, propaganda everywhere, protests, marches, and pain. When I became a teenager, it was rough for me because I used to watch those TV shows when teenagers like me hanged out with their friends and they had fun outside, and I used to ask myself why those people could do that and I can’t do it, the answer was easy: insecurity. During those times, it was hard to go out on the streets because you could get shot or you could get robbed, it was a difficult time for me and my family. On 2015 my family made a decision that changed my life, that decision was to leave our country and to come to the United States because home wasn’t safe for us anymore. When we came here it was a sacrifice, my mom and my dad had to work as janitors where they worked from 6 am to 12 am, I remember that I used to stay awake until 12 am to at least see my parents, I didn’t understand why they were doing that, but after a while I realized that they were working 19 hours every day because they wanted a better future for me. That was the moment when I realized that I wanted to help people. My passion is to help others, is to motivate, is to find solutions where the people only see problems, my passion is to work hard for what I want, no matter what it is or how far I need to go. I found out that the best way to make my dream of helping people to come true is to become a Motivational Speaker. This is my dream and with perseverance, dedication, and hard work I will pursuit my dreams and reach my goals. My motivation is the desire I have to help others and give them hope, I know that I will make mistakes along the way, but the mistakes I make will be an opportunity to learn from them and continue to pursuit my dreams. Nothing will stop me, I will not despair no matter how tired I would feel, my body might fail me but my heart will not and I will achieve my dreams.
The struggle becomes easier when you have a good attitude and the willingness to try and try until you reach your dreams and let me tell you; this is not over until I win and until you win.
