a smile doesn’t always tell the truth
By Aryana | From : East Boston, MA, USA | School : Mario Umana AcademyMy name is Aryana. I am 14 years old and I’m from the Dominican Republic. When I was 2, my dad left me for another family and I would only see him once a year. I have lived with my mom and little brother ever since. I was born in America but raised in the Dominican Republic until I was 5. When I came back to America I moved to a place called East Boston and this has been my home ever since.
I go to school at the Mario Umana Academy. I have been in this school for almost 3 years, and throughout my experiences there, it has shown me that you have to pick and choose people to trust. I have suffered through depression for a couple of years now and some days it would get really bad. Sometimes, I wouldn’t even be able to sleep at night. My aunt and uncle past away 4 days after each other which kind of made my life a little bit harder. My mom and Best Friends are really the only people that are there for me when I need something.
All my life I have lost people very important to me but now I am kind of used to it. I’m just glad that I am here with my family and my true friends.
