My name is Jonathan, I am from El Salvador I was born in Ahuachapan,  a Department in El Salvador .

I lived with my grandparents and my uncle there, I went to school all week long and my life in El Salvador was good there – I went to the street to play soccer with some friends that i have there but one day my mom tells me: “do you want to go to the United State” – The first time that she tells me that , I say “yes” but my brother says “no” – We did come to the United State for a year.  My mom feels bad because we said we are not coming with her – So, a year passed and my mom tells us again if we wanted go to the United State – I asked my grandparents and they said “yes “ – We ask them “why?”so they tell us ‘’because you can have good education and goods opportunities’’ – We said to thenm, “ok we want go the United State”.  We call my mom and she said ,”okm sons you will come in march.”

We went out of the house. My grandparents cried because we leave them, but a the same time they are happy because we came to the United State with my family.

And we start the travel with my brother and my cousin, for the American dream – We get a car to one place call Santa Ana is another Department in El Salvador – we drive to the place like 30[min], then we arrived in a house where we sleep that night – There were others people’s who were coming to the United State  too – The next day, we got up early and a van color white was there. The people who lived in the house where we slept tell us “get in that van – Then, the van will go and leave you in one place – Look for a bus and some people who work for us will go and ride that bus with you-  They will go with you so if something happens they can tell us” – We said “ok”  – We pass like six hours in the bus. Some people vomited in the bus – No one there could eat nothing – My brother and my cousin  stop in one place. There, we go to a house where there were a lot of peoples and we stay 6 days there – Then we get a trailer and they put everybody in the back of the trailer.  All the people who came with us were cold because in the back of the trailer, it was so cold.  Some people cried. When the trailer stopped, the people who came with us, they told us to get off the trailer and we walk like 3 hours.  Then another trailer came and got us. We pass like 3 hours in there and then they said “get off the trailer”,  they scream at us. Then, we get a car. There was  4 cars: two with all the peoples, one in the back and the other one ahead – Then, the car that was head turned around. The other cars stop and they tell us get off the cars and stay quiet.  Then we get on a boat  to cross all of Guatemala. We passed like a4 hours in the boat and then we go to one house and we sleep the day. The next day in the morning, we get in another little truck.  In the back of the truck, we are like 6 men and 3 women. The women are in front in the car and we go in the back pit against each other, We pass 3 hours and then we get off the car . Then we go to one little hotel and other people were there.  We ride then a bus for 6 hours and it was almost night – My brother and my cousin, they fell asleep in the bus. I don’t sleep because the bus almost stopped in an abandoned restaurant where we have to get out – We look from the window and nobody see a restaurant there – A soldier of Mexico boarded the bus and started to peek at people and to tell people to get out of that bus. He peeked at me and my brother then he turned to get out of the bus but then the soldier get in the bus again.  He goes straight to us, and he said “[ustedes tiene valor]”(you have value) and then he said “do not worry because someone pay for you now you can go” and everybody said “thanks you” – The bus drives again and we pass like 2 hours more in the bus – Then the bus stops where the restaurant is and the driver says,””people, you stay in the restaurant.” – So all the people who came with us , they got off the bus with me and my brother and cousin- We go to the back of the restaurant. We’re like 200(m) to the forest and the people who are supposed to help us, they get 3 cellphones numbers (2 for the adults and 1 for the kid) – First, they call my little cousin, but my little cousin was asleep and she don’t answer the call.  So they give me the phone and I answer the cellphone and the people who we called tell me “!!where are you?” And I said “we are in the back of the restaurant” and then they came to us and we start to walk  — We walk like 4 hours and we walk in the forest because we were going around a place where the army of mexico are – Then we get in cars and we go to [Reynosa] is a state of Mexico – We stay there like a month. In Reynosa, the helicopters go softly and you cannot stay out of the house because if they see you they can get everybody there. Then one day, someone calls the man in the house and he tells us to go tomorrow.  We say “finally thanks God” then we go to another house. We stayed like 3 days then we take a car.  The people in the cars tell us”be careful, when you pass the border run and do what the man tells you to do “ we said “ok” then we get in another car.  The man of the car said “sorry i forget than i need to come get you guys “ we said “no problem”, so we go and the car stops at a house and the man said,’’you have to sleep here today – Tomorrow you have to leave from here” – We eat pizza that night and we try to sleep. We get up early in the morning. A man was there.  We get a car to the border. They get other peoples. We pass like 20 minutes in the car then we get off the car and we walk like 5 minutes.  They bring a boat to pass the river.  We pass the river and we start walking in the United States. We walk like 500 feet.  A car was there and it turns its lights of the car on.  we start to run and we think that the car leaves but the car stops and turns around. The car came to us. We are 9 person there (2 adults, the other ones are kids and the 2 man who came with us)  – The car stops in front of me. I was in a maize field.  I am in the first line in the maize field and my brother with 3 others kids was in the second one. In 5 minutes,  4 or 5 cars came. They were car of La Migra A first man came in the maize field – He comes to get me but he goes to the other side but another came in the field and gets me. They get the other woman with his son first.  He tells me to not use my phone.  I text my uncle if then they get me with my brother.  We don’t know nothing. I ask if he can tell my mom please.

Why? i am here to get a good education because in my country i can’t get a good education. With my education i want to be in architect because i want to create and build a new things that make me feel excited about my future.
