Nothing Is Too Hard If You Try
By Deybi | From : Dominican Republic | School : Lawrence High School (MA)My story starts when I was about 11 years old and my mom asked me if I wanted to go to the United States and I said yes. I knew that my dad was living in the United States so I said yes because I wanted to see him.
When I turned 13 years old my parents started to get my papers, and I was happy because I was going to see my father and brothers. In the process we needed to go to many places: the hospital, la embajada dominicana, etc. … and there was this one moment when we needed the priest’s signature so I could go to the U.S., but he had some problems remembering things so it was hard to find him. And when my grandad found him my mom and dad bought the passage so I could come here.
When I came to the U.S. I was kind of sad because I knew that I wouldn’t see my friends and grandparents for a while but I’m still studying to make them proud.
