Where I Am From, Haiti In Shadows: A Cry For Hope

Haiti In Shadows: A Cry For Hope
Haiti once was full of light,
Now we live in endless nights.
Once we danced, once we played,
Now we run, now we pray.
We woke to sunshine, skies so blue,
Neighbors smiled, the world felt new.
Children laughed and ran outside,
No one had a need to hide.
School was open, books were read,
Now the classrooms fill with dread.
Children dream, but dreams don’t stay,
Fear and hunger take their way.
Christmas came with songs so bright,
Now it’s hiding every night.
No more bikes, no more fun,
Now we run when shots are spun.
Afternoons were full of cheer,
Riding bikes, the road was clear.
Chasing butterflies in play,
Now those days are far away.
Madan Sara sold with pride,
Now they run, nowhere to hide.
Homes once full of family near,
Now they are empty, lost in fear.
We used to hear the birds so sweet,
Now it’s gunshots in the street.
People pray in church or voodoo
Begging God to hold our hand.
The gangs don’t care, they burn, they kill,
Even babies, small and still.
Three months old, gone too fast,
How much longer will this last?
Even if you see us smile,
We’ve been hurting all the while.
If the trumpet calls today,
Haitians march with flags to say:
“God, we’re trapped in endless pain,
Living hell in blood and rain.
We won’t live forever here,
Give us hope, make it clear.”
Haiti’s crying, weak and tired,
Everything we loved is fired.
There will come a time, you’ll see,
When Haiti leaves its own country.
S.O.S, we scream, we fight,
But no one hears us in the night.
Still, one day, our light will shine,
Haiti will stand strong in time.
My body Is In U.S.A but my soul is in Haiti.
NOW
Grandma, can you hear my voice?
If I could, I give you choice—
To stay with me, right by my side,
To never leave, to never hide.
If you hear my poem on the radio,
Bady, turn up your volume.
Cause I grown now, I grow,now
Baptism day had come and passed,
A moment I had thought would last.
This picture holds what time can’t say,
A memory made the following day.
The days were warm, the air was sweet,
The sound of drums, the dancing feet.
The smell of rain, the earth so wide,
You were my home, my love, my guide.
But time was cruel, it took you fast,
I thought your love would always last.
Yet now you’re gone, and life is cold,
I feel too young, but live so old.
Father changed when you were gone,
His love grew weak, it’s not as strong.
He speaks to me, but not the same,
As if my heart forgot my name.
I walk alone, but still I try,
To hold my head and touch the sky.
For in my heart, you stay with me,
In whispered winds and memories.
I miss your hands, your voice, your face,
The warmth that time cannot replace.
I close my eyes and feel you near,
Grandma, I know that you still hear.
So I will stand, though life is tough,
For you have taught me I’m enough.
Grandma, can you hear me now?
I love you still—this is my vow
Rest In Peace

I hope this letter finds you well and living the life you’ve always imagined.
In ten years, I see you as a successful and respected judge 🔱, making a difference in people’s lives. You will have achieved your goals through hard work and dedication, and you will be proud of how far you’ve come 🌟. My big, beautiful house 🏡 in a peaceful village will be surrounded by a green garden 🌲🌳 and will have a sparkling pool 🏊. I will share this lovely home with my mother 👩👧, and maybe even start a family of my own that will have 2 children on it 👨👩👦. Not only I will have created a comfortable life for myself, but I will also give back to my roots in Haiti 🇭🇹. By purchasing land and building houses, I will help those in need and provide shelter for the less fortunate. My dream of opening an orphanage will come to pleasure giving hope and a brighter future to the children living on the streets. Future Aslanda 💪, my journey will be filled with love, kindness, and success 💖. My strong determination will lead me to create a beautiful life not only for myself but for others as well. I am excited to see all that I will accomplish in the coming years.
