One day when I was in Bloomfield Middle School, the principal announced to us that we needed to bring money the next day because we needed to buy a gown for graduation. That day, I went to the school and I got my gown after I gave them money. I went to all of my classes one by one and I came home. When I came home, my mom cooked fish and rice for me and put it on the table, for me to eat. After I ate, I washed my hands in the sink. I showed something to my mom that was my beautiful gown. She asked me ”Is that your gown for graduation?” I said, ”Yes” and she told me this was so beautiful. The whole gown was red and the tie was white with Bengals 2015 written on it. Also, my sister Sharmin wanted to see how it looked. When I tried it on, my mom was laughing because it did not fit me. It was too big for me. So, I put it on the table, to iron it, and I put it in the drawer to look beautiful and perfect.

At night, I planned for what I was going to wear that day. I opened my drawer and looked at several dresses, but I did not like any one. Then, I saw a gray lehenga with pajama and scarf and I liked it. It was a long and had short sleeves, long pajama, and a scarf. In front of the lehenga, there were beads, stone work, and this made it beautiful. I showed it to my mom and my sister. They told me, ”Yes that’s a good one to choose for your graduation.” Also, my sister found earrings and a necklace for me and it matched with the lehenga. After, I went to bed because I needed to rise early. In the morning, I woke up at 7:00 o’ clock and my mom gave me my usual food, Bengali breakfast of ”roti, and ”bazi”, bread and potato. I wore my lehenga, and necklace and earrings. My sister tried to help me by braiding my hair. She did it beautifully. After I finished getting ready, I hugged my mom and took my gown and purse. My mom gave me a kiss on my forehead and she said, ”best of luck.” When I left the house, all of my family members were standing in front of the door to say best of luck and bye. I said bye to them too. I walked a little to get the bus passing houses, trees, and cars. While I crossed the road, one of the crossing guards who wears a green uniform and has a stop sign, told me that I looked so beautiful today. I said to her, ”oh really?” When I went to the bus stop some of the students told me the same thing, while I was waiting.
It was time. We sat in the comfortable chairs, and some of the most important people gave speeches, the principal and vice principal. After their speeches, one of the science teachers called us one by one to go there and get the certificate. So, all of the students were going one by one and getting their certificates and shaking hands. When she called my name, everyone clapped their hands. I was so happy. While they were clapping their hands. I shook my hand with her and I said, ”Thank you so much.”
After the ceremony, I went to the cafeteria with one of my friends. While I went there, I saw lots of people were standing in the cafeteria. They were all of the student’s family members, but I did not have anyone from my family because I did not tell them to come to my school. I thought to myself, ”Why did not I bring anyone? Why did not I tell anyone to come? Why, Why?” At this time, I felt alone and I said to myself that’s my fault. Suddenly, I saw my uncle. When I saw him, I was so surprised because my cousin Azam did not tell me that he would come today. I asked him, ”How did you know you needed to come here?” He said my cousin told him to come and I hugged him. We went outside. We took lots of pictures next to the wall and under the green leafy tree. I saw all of the pictures with smiley faces. Afterwards, he drove us home. Before that, my uncle stopped his car in front the 99 cents store, on Grove Street. He went in and bought balloons for us that said ”Congratulations.” We thanked him. At that moment, I said to myself, if Uncle Abdul had not been there, then no one would have said congratulations to us and no one would have given us balloons. I was so lucky because my uncle was there. Who would ever think I would get this surprise?
